Overview

The Reform of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 sought submissions from the public and industry on proposed changes to the Act.

The proposed reforms of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 aimed to:

  • promote good-faith relationships in the rental environment, and
  • ensure there are appropriate protections in place for both landlords and tenants.

The 4,787 viewpoints provided during the consultation undertaken in August – October 2018 is now avaliable in a submission analysis. Report prepared by the Sapere Research Group for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
